The Pastors Masters Reunites at Old North State Club

New London, NC

After a two-year break in hosting The Pastors Masters Golf Tournament, on Monday, April 25, the tournament returned to the breathtaking views of The Old North State Club in New London, NC.  The sunny, blues skies and the breeze blowing in off Badin Lake made for a pleasant 80-degree afternoon.  A new contest was added to the lineup called “Cut the Corner”, where players took a swing, that didn’t tally on the scorecard, on hole 18 halfway down the fairway just near the edge of the lake. The goal was to clear the lake and land swiftly on the green to win a prize. In addition, the other contests included, Closest to the Pins, Longest Drives, Putting contest, and a Hole-in-One contest for a chance to win a beautiful 2020 BMW sedan, courtesy of Hendrick BMW of Charlotte.

The pastors and volunteers gathered for a post-round celebration where they heard from guest speaker, Bryan Loritts with The SUMMIT Church. Loritts spoke about how the game of golf is a true test on an individual’s character. He explained the difference between character and how people perceive you, reminding us that it is never too late to improve your character. Loritts’ short speech was uplifting, thought-provoking and provided a great finish to a full day of fellowship and golf.

Out of 50 golfers with a Texas Scramble format, one pastor was deemed The Pastors Masters Champion. Jeremy Pollard with The SUMMIT Church was crowned the thirteenth Pastors Masters Champion and took home the trophy and prize.  Each pastor was able to go home a winner with a raffle prize courtesy of participating sponsors including: AE Global, Amélie’s French Bakery & Café, BlueFire Visual, Bridge City Coffee, Cleveland Golf, Coatings 2000, Cordial Churchman Bow Ties, DesignBuild Mechanical, Edifice, LLC, Equip Studio, GeoHydro, Interstate Electric Company, Inc., Jack Foster Leather Goods, Johnson’s Roofing, Landmark Project, MasterKraft, Inc., Performance Fire Protection, Select Concrete and Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery.

“We have genuinely missed these guys! The Pastors Masters has become an event we eagerly anticipate each year to connect with several “old” friends and “new” ones. It was heart breaking for us to miss two years in a row but thrilled to be back together and appreciate these guys so much for their commitment to their church bodies and the community!” – Bryan Knupp, Executive Vice President for Edifice
