University Recreation Center | January 2018

During the month of January, construction at the UNC Charlotte University Recreation Center Project continues to move forward as preparations are now being made for the upcoming post-tensioned concrete and structural steel work tentatively scheduled to begin mid-February.

The majority of the concrete foundations and retaining walls at the first and second floor levels of the building have been installed. The under-slab utility and concrete slab-on-grade pours remain ongoing at the first floor. The foundation walls at the second floor are now backfilled, allowing the under-slab utilities to be completed and the concrete slabs to follow with an tentative pour scheduled for mid-February. In addition, the site work trade contractor is continuing with the installation of underground storm and sanitary sewer systems.

We currently have the temporary cooling now completely set up at the Student Union RUP Building. The existing chillers / cooling tower are scheduled to be removed and the new chillers / cooling tower set in place the second week of February.
