Senior Contracts Advisor
With 46 years of exceptional building experience, Edifice has become a leading commercial construction firm and is listed as an ENR Top 400 U.S. General Contractor. We are looking for a Senior Contracts Advisor to join our team in Charlotte, NC.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assume control and organization of our modified AIA owner construction contracts.
- Assume control and organization of our modified AIA subcontracts.
- Lead the Project Executives and Project Managers on effective contract negotiations with Owners and subcontractors.
- Lead the Project Executives and Project Managers on effective negotiation and use of preconstruction agreements
- Lead the Project Executives and Project Managers on use of Letters of Intent and other authorizations to proceed.
- Work with the operations team for notification requirements of subcontractor issues and defaults.
- Assist the CEO and CFO with any liens, litigation, or claims.
- Monitor and review compliance for our Subcontractor Default Insurance program and complete quarterly reporting.
- Assist the CFO with the management of our captive insurance, builder’s risk, pollution, professional, and property insurance program.
- Assist the CFO and the preconstruction department with the subcontractor prequalification process.
- Manage the subcontractor Certificate of Insurance compliance and approval process.
- Organize and distribute completed documents to the appropriate personnel for processing and record keeping.
- Train the Project Executive and Project Management team on effective contract negotiations, contract terminology and appropriate use of contract types.
- Keep and manage our contractor’s licenses and business licenses in various states and locales where we work.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- Background in construction operations and the construction industry processes and procedures.
- Experience with construction related contracts and successful negotiations.
- Expertise in reading, interpreting, and applying contract language.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to collaborate and train others.
- Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, Bluebeam/Adobe, DocuSign).
