HEYCO-Werk USA Breaks Ground on Manufacturing Facility in Gaston County

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 18, 2024) – HEYCO-Werk USA celebrated the start of construction of their new US manufacturing facility with a groundbreaking ceremony and toast on Thursday, June 13, 2024. The facility will be a new hub for production of technical plastics for the local automotive industry, producing injection-molded plastics for BMW and other European car manufacturers in the area.

Speakers at the event included Klaus Becker, Founder of the NC Zeitgeist Foundation; Chad Brown, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for Gaston County; Mattias Hoffman, CEO and President of the German American Chamber of Commerce; Markus Heynen, Chairman of the Family Shareholders for HEYCO Group; and Daniel Dittmar, CEO & President of HEYCO-Werk USA. Over 100 strategic partners and members of the local manufacturing community were in attendance, as well.

The groundbreaking ceremony marked a new chapter in North American production for HEYCO-Werk USA. The new $12.75 million facility is the German manufacturer’s third location in the US and their second in the Carolinas. Gaston County was selected for its proximity to North Carolina’s and the Southeast’s robust automotive supply chain and strong manufacturing workforce.

“After having limited options for choosing the initial location of our first plant, we are convinced we have found the right place and the right people to continue HEYCO’s success story in the US,” said Heynen. “This groundbreaking ceremony, therefore, is not only to symbolize the start of the new plant, but also to say thank you to all of you for being part of our success story.”

Once construction is complete, the manufacturing plant will have over 61,000 square feet of production space with 5,600 square feet of office space on a 10-acre site. The facility will bring 34 new jobs to Gaston County.

Construction project partners on this project include Vestian Commercial Real Estate, Marlboro Development Team, EDIFICE Construction, Seamon Whiteside & Associates, and SCOPE Architectural Consulting.
