The Humanities and Fine Arts Center is a three-story (plus partial basement) 158,000-square foot facility located in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina.
The center includes classrooms, offices, art studios and music classrooms plus a state of the art 1,500-seat performing arts auditorium with a $3 million audio/visual/lighting package. The auditorium includes the following special features: sloping main seating level, two balconies, dressing rooms, full flyloft with rigging, portable orchestra shell, lighting catwalks, dedicated sound and dimmer rack rooms, three loading dock bays, all performance lighting with dimming and controls, audio and video systems with 48 channel mixer and 3.1 speaker configuration, stage draperies, special acoustical finishes plus a high volume/constant low velocity underfloor HVAC system (300fpm/sf of opening). High level finishes throughout.
The center occupies one full city block and serves as a new location for cultural events for the community.
