Continental Tire’s New Headquarters

Indian Land, SC

About the Project

This 90,000sf office building in Indian Land, SC serves as the new Lancaster County headquarters for Continental Tire and is an expansion to their existing 33-acre campus. The three-story office building has the capacity for 350 employees and allowed the tire giant to consolidate operations from several locations in this area.

The building was designed and constructed to achieve LEED Gold certification by incorporating energy-saving and efficient materials. The project integrated various key LEED building standards, including sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. The open office layout incorporates natural materials installed by local artisans, which creates a unique and collaborative environment. The building utilizes LED lighting to reduce energy costs and contains recycled content carpet tiles, as well as low VOC paint. On the exterior, the parking area has been optimized to decrease the heat signature and features 10 EV charging stations that can be used for electric vehicles or motorcycles. Additionally, a total of 840 solar panels are located on the roof and in the parking area, contributing up to 25 percent offset of the building’s total energy consumption. Rainwater harvesting will be utilized for irrigation of the plantings and lawn area.

There were zero recordable incidents during construction with over 135,000 man-hours.

The building was also designed to accommodate future expansions.
