Raising Funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Quality control manager, Derek Dade, is participating in this year’s Guys & Dolls Auction Gala by raising funds to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Cystic fibrosis is a devastating genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. More than ten million Americans are symptomless carriers of the defective CF gene. Advances continue to be made in finding a cure, but your help is needed now — more than ever — to help keep up the momentum of this life-saving research. Sixty years ago, children with CF usually did not live long enough to attend elementary school. Today, because of Foundation-supported research and care, the median survival age of people with CF is about 40. This is remarkable progress, but not good enough.
Guys & Dolls is in its 19th year in Charlotte and features an amazing group of young professionals who come together to make a difference in the lives of the 30,000 children and young adults in the US battling cystic fibrosis (CF). Two of them are Heidi and Harrison, brother and sister who live right here in the Charlotte area. Derek is raising funds in their honor.
Derek has worked with Edifice for the past couple of years and is now the quality control manager on site at the University Recreation Center (UREC) project on the campus of UNC Charlotte. Derek has been in the construction industry for 10 years and has a passion for helping others.
