Safety Manager Bronson Lee Uses Training to Provide Early Emergency Services for Highway Accident
While en route to a project site on March 16, 2026, Edifice Construction Safety Manager Bronson Lee witnessed a speeding semi-truck lose control, overturn, and collide with a vehicle carrying a family of three. Acting without hesitation, he safely pulled over, retrieved his trauma bag and safety equipment, and used his training to assist those involved. After the initial incident, Lee continued to support the family by pooling resources from Edifice’s Charleston office to replace the child’s car seat damaged in the accident.
Upon reaching the scene, Lee found a mother, father, and their two-year-old daughter inside the badly damaged vehicle. He immediately began efforts to extricate the occupants, successfully removing the child and father. The mother, who was pinned beneath the dashboard, required additional stabilization until emergency responders arrived.
As a former fire fighter for the Town of Mount Pleasant, he drew on his safety training to triage injuries, administer care, and help secure the scene for first responders. The father sustained a minor tibia fracture; the mother suffered a broken ankle, and the child escaped with only minor cuts. All three have recovered well.
Recognizing that child safety seats must be replaced after an accident, Lee coordinated with Edifice’s Charleston office to purchase a new car seat for their young child, delivered in April.
“Bronson’s actions reflect the very best of our organization,” said Chris Gates, corporate safety director. “His courage, quick thinking, and commitment to others exemplify our core values and our dedication to the communities we serve.”
Lee is leading instruction and participation in Construction Safety Week activities across Edifice’s Lowcountry project sites. Demonstrating leadership, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to safety, both on and off the job site, he exemplifies Construction Safety Week’s mission to empower every person enact processes to make a safer community.
