University of North Carolina at Charlotte PORTAL Building
ABOUT
This construction management at risk project is a 96,000-square foot research building on the campus of UNC Charlotte. Named the PORTAL (Partnership, Outreach, and Research for Accelerated Learning) this building provides office space and information technology laboratory space to accommodate growth in IT research. The facility includes space to allow for the collaboration of industry partners as well as houses the offices of the Ventureprise. Amenities include a full service kitchen and a grand entrance / lobby for meetings and gatherings. The focal point of this project is the large overhead bridge in the lobby area.
The building houses approximately 10,000-square feet of certified Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) which requires independent IT, HVAC, security and back-up power systems.

TESTIMONIAL
“I personally commend Edifice on the superior job accomplished on the UNC Charlotte PORTAL project. It was very apparent that your team was consistently focused on finishing the project on time and in budget, while making sure the construction experience was as pleasant and as smooth as possible for UNC Charlotte…The leadership, management style, and guidance Edifice passes down to their staff, carries over into their work on construction management projects. It was a pleasure to work with each and every staff member.”
